What COUCH is
COUCH is private software for one household. It reads what your televisions and connected services report, works out who was watching, and uses that to answer what to watch next and what is appropriate for whom.
What COUCH is not
COUCH cannot stop anything from playing. It has no control over Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, or any other service. Marking a title as blocked removes it from COUCH’s own screens and recommendations — it does not prevent anyone in your house from pressing play somewhere else. Treat it as a household record and an early-warning system, not a lock.
Appropriateness verdicts are yours. External certifications and any generated hints exist only to sort the queue you review. COUCH does not decide what is suitable for your family and will never override a verdict you have set.
Accounts and households
You need an account to use COUCH, and an account belongs to one household. The person who creates a household owns it and can invite other adults, create child profiles, export everything, and delete it permanently. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
Only create a profile for a child in your own care, and only invite adults who agree to be in your household. Everyone in a household can see the household’s viewing.
Connected services
When you connect Trakt, Home Assistant, or any other source, you are responsible for complying with that service’s own terms. You can disconnect at any time; disconnecting stops new data arriving but does not delete what has already been imported — deleting the household does that.
Content and attribution
Titles, artwork, summaries and availability come from third parties and belong to them. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Recaps are generated from public episode summaries and are bounded to where you stopped watching. They can still be wrong or incomplete. They are a convenience, not a substitute for the show.
Availability and accuracy
COUCH is provided as-is, without warranty. It infers things, and inference is sometimes wrong — that is why every inference carries a confidence and a one-tap correction. Do not rely on it for anything that matters more than choosing what to watch. There is no uptime guarantee, and features may change or be removed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of COUCH, including anything anyone in your household watched, did not watch, or was shown.
Ending it
You can delete your household at any time from the Household screen, which erases its data permanently. Access may be withdrawn for misuse — for example attempting to reach another household’s data.
Changes and governing law
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. They are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States.
