For the people in the room
Every parental control is an age rating. Here your household draws its own lines — language, violence, frightening scenes, jump scares, sensory load — person by person, and on any night COUCH leaves out what doesn’t fit whoever is actually on the couch.
A household does not watch in profiles. Two of you start a series together, one gets three episodes ahead on a Tuesday, and by the weekend nobody can remember whose show it was. COUCH works that out from what actually happened in the room — and where it is not sure, it asks you instead of guessing.

Plenty of things can follow what you watch in a browser tab. Almost nothing sees the apps on the television itself, which is where a family actually watches. COUCH reads your own Home Assistant for that, adds a browser extension for Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, and takes your Trakt history if you already keep one.
Nothing is sent anywhere but your own COUCH.
Who’s here, how long have you got, what kind of evening. Three taps and it hands you three or four things this particular group actually finishes — the next episode of the thing you’re three in on, or something new that fits the forty minutes you have. Or you press just pick for us and stop deciding.
No percentages. It tells you why in a sentence, because “93% match” has never once helped anybody choose.
When two of you are on the same show at different points, the couch shows where you got to together — never the episode the fast one reached on their own. It is a small thing that every service gets wrong, and it is the reason people stop watching things together.
“She can have the tablet” and “we watch this one together” are not the same permission, so COUCH keeps them apart. A title nobody has decided on never reaches a child screen — it waits for a grown-up rather than assuming.
COUCH cannot stop a Netflix play. It is a record of what your household watches and a way to decide together — not a lock on the television. When it cannot answer something honestly it says so: a recap it cannot ground in what it was shown is a recap it refuses to write.
